Accessibility Policy

In designing this website, the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities' goal is to ensure that this site will be accessible to people with disabilities. We worked closely with advisory members and focus groups comprised of people with disabilities and experts on accessibility.

We value feedback from the disability community.

By developing relationships in the disability community and information and referral systems, the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities ensured that accepted and functional practices were incorporated. We follow the federal guidelines of Section 508 and use taxonomy established by the Alliance of Information & Referral Systems to code our topics list. We have incorporated input from people who use screen readers to parents who have children with disabilities. In addition, prior to public release the website was beta tested by members of the disability community to ensure accessibility.

We wanted to make sure that this web site works for everyone.

Continuing Responsibility and Collaboration

When new technological advances are created, we will consider its relevance to accessibility and if possible, implement it within the website. We have created a Problems and Comments form, to receive feedback from the public on accessibility. In addition, we will continue to seek input from members of the disability community on accessibility issues and website functionality.
